Sometimes God reveals His purpose and will progressively,
one step at a time, and not all at once.
I remember when I worked for the Sheriff’s office I was sent to a training for a program called C.L.E.T.S. that I was unfamiliar with. As the training opened the host began to use specific nomenclature I did not know. A half hour into the training I was completely muddled, and could not seem to catch on to what the host was teaching. As I looked around I noticed everyone else seemed to be in tune with the conversation. Those in training with me had been with their respective departments for years, and had been through this training many times prior. We soon realized that I was signed up for the wrong training. I should have been
taking an introductory course first.
God’s thoughts are not our thoughts, so if He were to give us an understanding all at once, we would be lost like I was in that C.L.E.T.S. training. What a testimony to God’s character. That He knows us so well, and makes the provisions so that we can clearly understand and absorb the portions of His will He reveals to us. Not only does our Father know the best way to garner our understanding of a word, He also knows what would deter us from it.
Have you ever clicked through the TV channels or surfed through the radio stations to find something that interests you? Through that journey did you ever come across a music station or television channel which used a language you couldn’t understand? If so, you most likely continued to the next available station or channel. Why? When we come across something we don’t understand, and lack the ability to decipher its meaning, we tend to move past it. If God were to pour his knowledge on us all at once we would turn from the message in our inability to understand it. Stand firm and trust in His process.
